Thankful "Friday"
Sorry for not sending out my Thankful Thursday yesterday. To be honest, I forgot to take the time to evaluate what I was thankful for and yesterday was such a depressing day, that I really should have taken the time to reflect. But today is a new day (Praise God) and it’s Thankful Friday!
Today I am thankful for:
~ A faithful God
~ breaking the plateau in my weight loss
~ Two people asked if I was a cheerleader in high school after I told them about my reunion tomorrow. (I gotta say, I take it as a compliment)
~ The lady who carded me when I was buying wine was surprised that I didn’t JUST turn 21. Yay!
~ I won $2 on my $1 scratch ticket
~ Being loved unconditionally
Below is the description of my horoscope sign. I’m totally not into horoscopes, but I found it interesting that most things do fit me, however the gambling part is way off!
The Happy-Go-Lucky One (Nov 22 - Dec 21)Good-natured optimist. Doesn't want to grow up ( Peter Pan Syndrome ). Indulges self. Boastful. Likes luxuries and gambling. Social and outgoing.. Doesn't like responsibilities. Often fantasizes. Impatient. Fun to be around.. Having lots of friends. Flirtatious. Doesn't like rules. Dislikes being confined - tight spaces or even tight clothes. Doesn't like being doubted. Beautiful inside and out.

Encouragement
I get encouragement a lot, which of course I'm so appreciative of. This week my grandma sent me what I thought was a random story. But it ended up being a "lesson" that made me smile.
She told me a story where she saw a girl who had a baby a while ago (she noted this girl reminded her of me when we were younger). She compliment this girl on how she got back into shape so nicely. The girl replied, "Thanks, but it's not like it was pre-baby". They laughed and my grandma gave an encouraging, "it will never be".
My grandma's words to me were "your body is the best it will ever be". ha ha... that could have some truth to it, but more powerfully its a reminder to be grateful for what we have pre-baby.

Like pre-baby skin (terrified of stretch marks!), sleep, laziness, freedom, TV watching, traveling, etc.
Tim and I were just talking this weekend about how crazy it is that I would have been just 2 weeks from my due date, which was 8/15. If I was still pregnant, there is no way we would have been able to go to Hawaii or float down the river, beaten Tim in badmitten and all of those other little things that can easily be taken for granted.

Hospital Visits
Last night I had to meet up with Tim who needed to go to the ER. He thought he was going to slide into 3rd base at softball, but instead slid into another player’s cleat and ZOINK! His middle and ring finger on his right hand decided to dislocate into a 70 degree angle. He was playing in Everett and drove 45 minutes back to Issaquah to go to the ER. He says it’s because he didn’t want to end being stuck up north. But I like to think it was because he wanted me there with himJAnyway as the Dr is sticking him with a 2 cm needle three times in his knuckles and then setting them back in place I started thinking about how many times my mom was in the ER/hospital with us.
Me alone, I think I was in the ER/hospital 8-10 times. The first time was when I was 2 and fell off my Grandparents second story deck head first and spent a few days in the hospital. Then when my brother and I tried doing back flips on our futon, and I gave myself a concussion with my knee. Then I had an emergency appendicitis and spent 10 days in the hospital. I punctured my foot with an earring and the ER docs had to open my wound and flush it out. I had surgery on both my feet to have extra bones removed. I broke my elbow racing down the big hill with my cousin, Sean and somehow flipped over the handle bars. A few years later, I broke my wrist in high school because I was mad at Timmy and flung open the gym door too hard. Then I had a benign cist removed from my neck… thankfully after that, things slowed down a bit, but still had three more “surgeries” as an adult.
I can’t imagine a mother having to take her kids to the ER and spending so much time in the hospital. Of course, watching Tim go through his stuff last night wasn’t that big of a deal because he’s a big boy and I’ve seen worse – but I was thinking about my own children. I’d have to hold their hand and console them and knowing there would be nothing I could do to help them myself. I guess it all comes with the territory, but I really hope my kids aren’t as clumsy or accident prone as I was!
