Man! What lessons I have learned (or more like been reminded of) this week! This past Sunday I had a good reminder that even though we get busy and have our own issues to deal with, that I shouldn’t forget about touching base with my friends. Or family members for that matter.
However, there are some friendships that you realize are not worth your time or energy and you’ve got to part ways. Not that I don’t care about those people any more, but that if they have drained you and take more than add to your life, whats the point of wasting your precious resources on them? Friendship is a two way street. And although finally letting go of that relationship doesn’t mean it has to be forever, its such a wonderful feeling to be able to walk away for a bit. Get renewed and restored and be able to use your resources on those who are going to do the same for you.
The other aspect of the lesson I was reminded of this week had to do with work.; basically the same principal. I had a good reminder that my employees need and deserve my attention and that I should be connecting with them every day. They deserve to feel valued. And although it wasn’t intentional, I inadvertently was making some employees feel as if I didn’t care about them. Well, that is not my heart so I need to work on changing their perception. In the same breath, I need to “F’n relax!” (quote from an employee) and learn to not sweat the small stuff.
Below are my Thankful Thursdays from the past few weeks. I will begin posting them on my blog going forward.
5/14 It’s Thursday again!
Today I am thankful for:
~Receiving a wonderful blessing from Tim’s parents
~Having a trip to Hawaii to look forward to this summer
~The opportunity to continue to learn and grow as a person. Even though some lessons are painful (this weeks I had 2 slugs in the gut) it’s totally worth the opportunity for growth
~That I’ve woken up with a song of worship in my head the last few days that totally coincide with what I need from God that day. For example, today I woke up with the song that says, “You make all things new. You renew and restore…” I don’t remember the title, but man! It was perfect for what I needed today. Especially after yesterday.
~That God has given me the ability to show patience and remain respectful even when door to door paper salesmen offend me
~Losing 2 lbs this week. 7lbs total so far!
5/7 This week didn’t start off easy for me, but when it really comes down to it, I have a lot to be thankful for this Thursday.
~My loving husband (I’m truly blessed!)
~My cousin, Danielle who can tell me to, “snap out of it” in a loving, but forceful way
~ A relaxing and fun weekend away with my fave Costco girls
~Wonderful lunch with my dear friend, Ashley on Monday
~Our ceiling fan is finally being installed this afternoon
~That God has given me peace
~That I work for a great company with job security
And I’d like to retract my thankful for open-toed season comment from last week. Although the calendar says it’s spring (almost summer) Washington is not playing along. J
4/30 It’s Thankful Thursday again!
Today I’m thankful for (in no particular order):
~A good nights sleep last night
~ A wonderful, loving, funny husband
~ Another 4 day work week
~Girls trip this weekend (Woo Hoo! Can’t wait!)
~A wonderful past weekend with many friends and family last week (don’t get to do that too often)
~ My puppy who likes to snuggle with me
~ My cousin’s sermon’s on CD
~ Opened toed shoe season!!
~ Dinner with Tim’s parent’s and watching his nephew’s softball game tonight
4/23 My cousin started this thing she calls Thankful Thursday. I think it’s a great idea because we can get dumped on so much and lose site on what’s really important and to remain thankful for the little things.
So today I am thankful for:
*Bring your child to work day- my sister, Chehaila is here with me today. (I’m even more thankful that she got to go see a movie for 1.5 hours so I could get some work done)
*my glasses came in a week early. It’s amazing how much more I can see!
*I got to finally meet my friend Jon’s son, Chandler last night. So cute!
*my mom is moving into her new place
*the scary unexplained situation has stopped this week related to my miscarriage (TMI to share with all here)
*The medicine my doc gave me for this mystery rash seems to finally be working. (Okay, how pathetic do I sound right now? I’m seriously not a hypochondriac!)
*The note my sister left on my desk after she cleaned it saying, “I love you, love me”
*My husbands sweet text this morning
*I’m off tomorrow. Yay 3-day weekend!
*Two of my favorite people have their long awaited bridal showers this weekend
*That God does answers prayers even if you have to wait for it
