Catching up

The past two weeks have been way too crazy with the mulitiple feet of snow, working every day and moving into our first home. So I want to catch everyone up. First, as my first entry showed, I did the stick test on Thursday. Then on my 28th birthday the following day, I went to the Dr to confirm my pregnancy. Lauren, Jenn, Brian and Nicole and their son, Carter came over to our apt and we went ice skating.
SO SNEAKY:
After ice skating, which was a blast, we went back to our place. I had some sparkling pear juice that I put in one of our wine glasses so it appeared I was drinking wine. Before Tim got home after work I had poured an Odouls in Clamato juice and threw away the bottle since Tim knows I love clamato and beer. So all that was successful, but then Tim wanted to go to a restaurant. While everyone was getting their coats on I ran into the bedroom and ripped off a piece of paper and wrote, "I am pregnant and my friends don’t know yet. Can you please make my drinks virgin on the sly?" I was so nervous, I didn’t know how I was going to get that note to our waitress. Lauren was standing outside with Jenn so I told Tim I was going to let them know where our table was. I found the hostess and handed her the slip of paper and I asked if she can give the note to our waitress quickly and quietly. A few minutes later our waitress came up and she looked at me, I winked at her and she winked back. Phew! Of course my friends order me a shot! So the waitress brought me fruit juice in a shooter. Then towards the end, they wanted me to take a chocolate cake shot (as I’m trying to convince them my tummy doesn’t feel that great) but they ordered it anyway. Before my last shot arrives Tim says he wants to taste it because he wants to see if it really tastes like chocolate cake. I told him that if wants me to drink it, I’m not sharing it! So a shot glass filled with water and rimmed with sugar and a slice of lemon come my way. I drank it up so quick and the waitress quickly took it from me-I assumed it was so the others couldn’t tell their wasn’t any alcohol in it!
So yeah!! That totally worked!
Then there was Saturday which was Lauren’s birthday party at the Tulalip Casino and new hotel. So I told Tim I had to get groceries in the morning. I picked up a 20oz Budweiser (it was the darkest bottle I could find) and since I still had Odouls left in the trunk, I poured out the beer and poured in the non-alcohol beer. When we got to the hotel I announced I was designated driver so I was just having my one drink. That totally worked because it was snowing out so no one questioned why I wasn’t having shots with everyone. As I went to the bathroom I poured some in the toilet, and even Tim took a couple of swigs and he didn’t notice a difference.
So Sneaky! ;)

TELLING FAMILY:
Wow, telling family about our expected bundle of joy is amazing and so much fun. I didn’t even tell Tim that we were pregnant until the golf balls that I had personalized arrived saying, “Congrats! You’re going to be a daddy!” Just his reaction made telling him a week later was totally worth it! It took him a moment to realize what the balls said and he looked at me and said, “Are you serious!? That’s awesome!”.
He wanted to start calling people right away. I told him I wanted to wait until Christmas to tell our family. So that day, we walked to Babys R Us (since it had snowed like crazy) to find bibs. We found one for both of our sisters that said, “I love my Auntie”. My mom’s says, “What happens at Grandma’s, stays at Grandmas.” My mother in laws says, “ If mommy says no, ask Grandma”. And My brother’s says, “My uncle is my buddy”. We couldn’t find one that said Grandpa, so we got some diaper wipes and put a note on it that says, “for all the future diaper changes”.
My side of the family was supposed to come over on Christmas Eve for dinner, but due to the snow, the closing of our first home was delayed so we didn’t even get to move in until Christmas Eve. Dinner was post poned till Saturday.
On our way to my husband’s parent’s house for Christmas, I called my dad and told him that I couldn’t send him his gift, but I asked him how he’d like a 3rd Grandchild. At first he was like, 3rd? And then it hit him. He said the news gave him shivers down his spine and said it was the best Christmas gift he could have ever gotten. I then got to tell my step mom and step sisters which was neat.
My mother in Law, Ivene makes fun drinks for the holidays that I never pass up. So Tim and I knew we’d have to come up with a game plan before we got there. When we arrived I said I had a head ache and just wanted some milk to start off with. I even went so far as asking for an IBprofine. After an hour of sledding in the back yard, I quickly came in before anyone else and poured some orange juice in a champagne glass to appear as if I was drinking a mimosa. I tried to make that last for an hour, but then Ivene started to make cosmos. Tim text me to say that he’ll drink mine if needed, but since I knew we’d be opening presents soon I said that I’ll have one after we open gifts.
So after everyone was done opening gifts I handed out my Father in Law: Jim and Ivene and Sister in Law, Jennifer their gifts and told them they’d have to open them at the same time since they kinda went together. My husband had the video camera in his hand. I was trying to look at everyone for their reaction. I saw Jim rip his open and he didn’t respond at first, then I saw Ivene open hers and it took her a moment to figure out what it said. I think Jennifer was the first to react. Ivene had tears coming down and my husband said that his sister had tears in her eyes as well. Tim said he started shaking in anticipation so he says the video will totally pick up on that. It was great! Everyone came up to us and hugged us and congratulated us.
Then after we got home my sister, Breanna in CA called and I told her that I wanted to tell her about her Christmas gift since I wasn’t able to send it. I told her she was going to be an auntie. She was totally excited for us too. She just had her first born in Sept so I got to experience all of her excitement, now she gets to share all of my excitement. Saturday, the 27th, My mom, brothers: Robby and Lee and sister: Chehaila and Grandma and Grandpa Kane came over for Christmas dinner. All day I was just waiting in anticipation for present time. After giving them the tour of the new house, we still had some time before dinner was going to be ready so I suggested we open gifts. We opened our presents and I was just in a cloud because I was excited to tell them. Then after everyone was done, I got my mom, sister and brother's bibs and passed them out. My mom was the first to react. She didn't even pull out the bib out of the wrapper, so I don't know when my Gma and Gpa realized what was happening. But my mom screamed, "Are you serious!!?" and gave me a huge hug that lasted forever. Everyone was happy, and my mom and Grandma thought I looked pregnant. Well, not more than 10 minutes before they arrived, the jeans I'd been wearing all day were feeling tight since I get bloated in the evenings. Besides, knowing I was going to be grubbing, I needed more room! So I found my fat girl jeans. (Okay, seriously, I wear a size 8 and these things are a size 14- so they are huge on me!) Well, apparently although I was comfy and hiking up my pants all night, that clothing choice almost gave away my surprise. :)Well, nothing like sharing this amazing news with your loved ones to make it feel more real! I will be telling the rest of my fam soon and my closest friends on New Years Eve. I'm not telling my employees until I'm in the safe zone which would be around 3 months. Hopefully I can hold off until then, but if I start looking really fat, then I might reveal the news sooner. Last thing I need are rumors going around Costco how I ballooned! Ha ha
