The End is Near!

Today I 38 weeks and 5 days. Yesterday I lost my mucus plug. Here is what that means:
"The mucous plug is a small amount of mucous that seals the cervix (the opening of the uterus) during the nine months of pregnancy, like a cork seals a bottle. It serves as a barrier during pregnancy that prevents bacteria from entering the uterus.

As labor approaches, the cervix thins and dilates (the opening gets larger). When this happens, the mucous plug is no longer large enough to fill the opening and it eventually comes out. It may come out all at once, or it may come out slowly in the vaginal discharge over a couple of days.

Losing the mucous plug is a sign your body is starting to prepare for labor. You may lose your plug as early as one to two weeks before the true signs of labor appear, or just as labor itself is beginning."

When I had my last check up on Wednesday, Dr. Graham says I was 1.5 cm dilated and 50% effaced. Yesterday while running errands I was experience really strong period like cramps. So with all of these signs labor is anywhere from hours to days away.

It really is exciting, but at the same time, its a little frustrating because I'm literally just hurrying up and waiting. We already put the bags in the car, Tim talked to our neighbor about feeding/walking Griffey and now it's just the waiting game.

This week our friend Kimmy had her second son. We had found out on the same day that we were both expecting and she was due a week before me. She had a scheduled c-section. We went to go visit her and her son at the hospital. It was so neat to hold a 1 day old and trying to picture it being me and Tim in the hospital with our newborn.

Here is my 38.5 week photo:

  1. Yay, things are definitely moving! I started losing my plug about a week or so before I had to be induced, but it's always a good sign, and you know that your body is doing what it's supposed to! Only a little while longer and she'll be here!!!
