9 weeks

I can tell my body is hard at work making this baby, but it's getting a little easier. The last two days at work I didn't have to take a nap during lunch! And it's Sunday and I didn't take a nap, however I did get a little car sick. Bloating is still the most annoying part, but after reading how my intestines are slowing everything down so my baby can soak in the nutrients makes me feel better. My husband is a little shocked by how "big" I already look. I wanna say, "shut up!" Like I don't know... oh well. At least he's not commenting negatively about my new cup size :) Oh and twice today I got a little light headed so I need to make sure I stand up slow. Thats going to be hard at work.
Below are a couple of fun facts:

Fun Facts For Birthday 05/05/2010
Your baby will be born in the Year of The White Metal Tiger
Half Birthday: November 3
Birthstone: Emerald (Love, Success)
Astrological Sign: Taurus
Birth Flower: Lily_of_the_Valley or Hawthorn (Yellow, Red and Green)
This time next year your baby will be 21 Weeks Old!
Your baby will start kindergarten in 2015, be old enough to drive a car in 2026, graduate high school with the class of 2028, and will finish college in 2032, give or take a year. Can you imagine?

This week marks the end of the embryonic period and the placenta is developing as well. Your baby looks like a tiny human now and is approximately 13 - 17 mm or about 0.51 - 0.66 inches in length (about the size of a raspberry). At this point, he weighs approximately 1 - 1.5 grams (the weight of a paperclip).
While the internal reproductive organs have now become either testes for boys or ovaries for girls, there's nothing yet to tell you whether it's a boy or girl even if you look closely. The skeleton has begun to form as cartilage and bones take shape. The baby's intestine has begun to move out of the umbilical cord into the baby's abdomen and your baby is now taking his first few drinks - he's drinking amniotic fluid. Remember, a little of what you eat and drink ends up in the amniotic fluid so, it can end up in him. Reflex muscle movements continue and now your baby will move away if touched through the uterine wall. Other changes in your baby are the heart valve formation, the retina formation, and the tip of the nose becoming visible.

A Rough Week!

This past week has been pretty rough. Instead of doing my normal errands like grocery shopping, paying bills, etc during my lunch, I take naps in my car. I’m exhausted, which is different than tired. When I think of tired I think of needing more sleep at night. That is not my problem. My problem is that not only could I literally sleep all day, the thought of even getting dressed, hair done and make up on exhausts me. Most people I speak to say this is normal and it will pass. I hope so! No wonder they refer to ditziness/forgetfulness as pregnancy brain – it’s because it takes too much effort to think and remember!

On Friday this past week I could barely keep my eyes open. My husband really wanted to play tennis and that was the furthest thing from my mind. Thankfully we got an invite to have dinner at our friends house. But by 9pm I was telling my husband that we were going home and I promptly went to bed. The next morning I woke up to run some errands in anticipation of my 12 yr old sister and 7 ¾ yr old cousin coming over for a slumber party. I didn’t want to leave the couch – I was feeling a bit nauseas. But I couldn’t disappoint the girls so I got my woozy self up and did what I had to. I picked up the girls and we had a good time. Although I really wish they were content to just watch movies, they of course wanted to be entertained. It was quite an effort on my part but I really don’t think they noticed and I hope we built good memories. (Well my memories were primarily cleaning non stop [making boboli pizzas and cupcakes are messy!] and watching Hotel for Dogs and Hannah Montanna the movie)

The next day at church I warned my sister’s Sunday school teacher I may be pulling her out of class early. Sure enough I had to leave about 20 min early. I was feeling sick and my eyes were closing. Then I had 1.5 hour drive ahead of me. Thankfully I had skittles and crackers in my purse and I survived. And after I got home, instead of watching the Seahawks lose, I took a nap.

Monday came and man that was bad!! I made it about 1.5 hours at work. One trip to the bathroom (thankfully didn’t lose my cookies) but I knew there was no way I was going to survive. I went home took a 3 hour nap with the hopes of returning to work. Nope, I subsequently took two more naps. But I forced my way through Tuesday at work and I think I impressed my boss. Although I was completely useless!

Then Tuesday night at 715pm I get a call from my little brother, Lee who is a wreck, telling me my mom’s been in the hospital since 2am ( I won’t go off on how pissed I was at that). My brother wasn’t even told which hospital she was in. Thankfully, my first try at googling hospitals in the Marysville area was successful. But when they tried transferring me to my mom’s room, she didn’t answer three attempts at reaching her. So I started panicking thinking she may be in surgery or something. I got through to the nurses station where somebody walked to her room and woke her up. Apparently she was so drugged that she didn’t hear the phone. I talked with her for about 20 minutes and she was able to tell me what was hurting, but not why. She couldn’t move her left side because from her big toe to the top of her head she had shooting pain, which she described as the worst pain like at the height of labor – thanks mom! I went to see her yesterday morning and she sounded better and looked better than what I expected. I had to help her wash her face, brushed out her hair and braided it and helped her change her shirt. I can’t believe they don’t have anyone at the hospital to help her with this. She had been in the same sweaty clothes for 36 hours. Anyway, I felt better after seeing her and knowing that she was wasn’t going to be leaving us anytime soon. But they are going to hold her for a few more days until they can figure out what’s wrong with her.

Thankfully as of yesterday I was feeling a lot better, although I thought I was going to lose my cookies because of the hospital smells. I think instead of having gnarly morning (all day) sickness, I really think I had a bug. Which I am perfectly okay with, because that means I’m not going to be feeling like crap every day! Oh and yesterday I got the results from my blood tests back. Everything came back great and I don’t carry the gene for cystic fibrosis. The only thing they found was that I have a slight bladder infection. No worries!

As of Monday I am at my 8 weeks. My body is changing shape and my boobs are heavy! It’s the craziest thing. They’ve gotten bigger and I had to buy a new bra. Unfortunately it has little straps and due to the weight of these things, those straps are digging into me. I’ve never had that problem!! I’m lotioning like crazy in hopes of preventing stretch marks – wish me luck!

HEART BEAT!

Oh my gosh!!! We had our ultra sound today and saw the strong, healthy heart beat of our little baby! I am 6 weeks and 6 days today. Dr. Graham didn't have the ultra sound wand in me more than 20 seconds before she saw the heartbeat. I had my eyes closed, took a deep breath and let it out and by the time I exhaled, she said she saw the baby and the heart beat. I looked at Tim who had a smile on his face, looking at the ultra sound and he said he saw it right away too. Tears just poured out of my eyes. She then let me see it and sure enough you can see the little piece of rice's heart beat flitting away. She said it was a really strong beat :) She said that the shape and size of my uterus were perfect!

Tim and I were really trying to not give our hopes up. Just moments before the doc came in, we were making plans as if there wasn't going to be a baby. I knew that God would comfort us and heal us just as he did the first pregnancy and His embrace never left me. I'm just so grateful that this time, we got positive news and we can relax a little bit and start enjoying the idea of becoming parents.

YAY!!!!

BFP

Now that my family knows, it's time to post the good news. I got a Big Fat Positive on a pregnancy test on Saturday August 22!!

I didn't have any clear signs that I may have been pregnant, but I guess I had a positive feeling. I wasn't going to test because I didn't want to waist money on an expensive test so I was just going to wait to see if Aunt Flo showed up on Monday/Tuesday. As Tim was golfing and I finished cleaning the house, I was kind of bored and just thinking how I'd really like to take a test. Thats when I remembered I still had the second stick from the first time I tested last Dec sitting in my glove box. However, it had been really hot and I didn't think it would be reliable, but I figured, "why not?" Of course I had just used the bathroom so I guzzled some water and waited for about an hour.

At 3:12 I took the test, went into my bedroom to hang a few close and about 5 minutes later I decided to look. I was prepared for it to have one line which would be the indication of negative. I wasn't prepared to see two lines! I stared at it and made sure that it really was two lines. And there was! I began to laugh and cry then really cry and pray. I've been waiting for this for a long time, but now I was terrified. After I stopped crying I text Tim to tell him I missed him and asked when he was going to be home from golfing. It felt like he was gone forever. I pulled out the shirt I bought him a few months ago that says, "daddy rules" and wrapped the stick in it and put it in a gift bag.

When Tim got home he went into the bathroom. I had the gift in my hand and stood outside asking how his game went, obviously not caring one lick. I just wanted him to hurry up. As soon as he got out I handed him the baggy and told him I had a gift for him. He took out the tissue paper and before he took out it's contents he stated, "you're pregnant!". I started jumping up and down and told him yes! He said, "I am so happy you're so happy". And of course he was happy too.

According to the calendar it shows the estimated due date would be cinco de mayo 2010. When I went to the Drs office to get the official test done, the dr asked if I wanted to test my HCG levels since the last pregnancy wasn't viable and to help give me a peace of mind. Of course I took advantage of his offer. In three days my levels quadruppled! Now I know that doesn't mean we're in the clear, but it really did give me a peace of mind. I have my first ultra sound next Monday, 9/14. I'll be a day shy of 7 weeks. We're hoping to see the heart beat... I can't wait, but another nerve racking moment.

My pregnancy symptoms are/have been, lower back ache, sore nipples, heart burn, head aches, bloating/gas, and period like cramps. These are different than from my first. The first time my boobs grew quickly, I had little zits come out on my chest, a twinge of nausea here and there and fatique. Weird how it's so different this time, but perhaps it's a good sign :)

What is interesting about conceiving this cycle is that my sister told me after I got back from HI that she had a positive feeling about my next cycle. And my friend Laura shared that she and her husband conceived after their trip to HI.... so thanks to everyone for their positive affirmations!

From now until Monday all I'll have on my mind is that ultra sound, but I do feel positive. At the same time I feel more prepared if there is a negative outcome. I feel Gods grace and peace and all I can do is submerge myself in prayer and thanksgiving.

I am not sharing this news with everyone (just those on my Thankful Thursday posts and those I know who read my blogs). I'll probably share with my employees and facebook a bit after my ultra sounds since I'm already feeling like my clothes aren't fitting well and I've never been one to keep exciting things going on in my life a secret for long.

I'll keep ya'll updated! Thanks for all the prayers in the past and the continued prayers as Tim and I work on starting our family.
